Blur faces in a video

Drop a clip: every face is found and followed from frame to frame, on your device. Untick anyone who should stay visible, then export an MP4 with the sound kept. No upload, no watermark, no account.

100% local — the video never leaves your device.

How it works

  1. Drop, or pick, a clip of up to 3 minutes — a phone video, a screen recording, dashcam footage.

  2. Every face is found and followed through the video on your device. You get one thumbnail per person: untick anyone who should stay visible.

  3. Pick blur, pixelate or a solid box and export. The MP4 keeps the sound and drops the original's location and device metadata.

When to blur faces in a video

Video catches everyone who walks past. The usual cases:

  • Kids

School plays, sports days and birthday parties with other people's children in the frame.

  • Bystanders

Street, travel and event footage before it goes on YouTube, TikTok or a blog.

  • Dashcam and evidence

Clips for an insurer, a forum or the police, where the passers-by are not the point.

  • Work recordings

Office tours, event videos and training clips with colleagues who did not agree to be online.

Why every frame matters

A face that is hidden in 299 frames and visible in one is not hidden. Detectors miss frames — a head turns, a hand passes, the camera shakes — so a box that simply follows the detector flickers, and the face shows for a moment each time.

Here each person is tracked rather than redetected: the box stays on a face for several frames after the detector loses it, grows a little while it waits, and never shrinks below the face. Faces in profile or mostly covered can still be missed, so watch the result before you share it.

Why nothing gets uploaded

Online face blurring usually means uploading the very footage you want to protect, then paying per minute or exporting with a watermark. Here the video is decoded, analysed and re-encoded in your browser with WebCodecs; the face detector is downloaded once from this site, and the clip never leaves your device.

Just a photo? Use the face blur tool, or blur a photo's background and keep the people sharp.

Recording your screen?

Blur names, emails and whole panels on the live page before you record — then there is nothing to blur afterwards. One click in the browser.

FAQ

No. Decoding, face detection, blurring and encoding all run in your browser. The face detector is fetched from this site once; the video itself never leaves your device.

Up to 3 minutes. Everything runs on your own device, and longer clips would take too long in a browser tab — trim a longer video first.

Chrome and Edge on a computer, and recent Safari. Browsers that can't encode video in the page say so before any work starts.

Yes. After the analysis you get one thumbnail per person — untick yourself, or anyone else who should stay visible, before you export.

No, faces only. For a single photo, the license plate blur tool finds plates automatically.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The result is an MP4 with the original sound.
